"Dr. Tulp´s Anatomy
Lesson" You like really good scary stories? I hope so, because I'm going to tell you one. My name is Block. I'm the little guy down there at the bottom of the page. The name of the painting is "Mr. Tulp's Anatomy Lesson." The day Rembrandt -- a great artist in my day -- painted us, I had a horrible stomachache; that's why I look so miserable. The truth is just about anyone would get sick studying the human body - especially a corpse! See, back then there weren't many books on the subject, so anyone who wanted to be a doctor and wanted to know how the body worked had to study dead bodies. Totally gross! YUK! Doctor Tulp is the one in the black hat. He was our professor; and a good one at that. Funny, isn't it? It's the 21st century and you know who I am thanks to Rembrandt - a grumpy little guy -- that painted my friends and me in 1665 - more than 300 years ago! Cool. NOTE: How do you think the
rest of the story will go? |
